Happy new year, dance teachers! As we step into 2026, we at Dance Teacher wish you a year filled with creativity, growth, and joyful movement.
To kick things off, we’re spotlighting a dance studio with a storied history—the Logrea Dance Academy. Having opened its doors in Ossining, New York, in 1986, this non-competing, family-oriented studio has a multigenerational student base with alumni continuing to send their children to learn dance from the founders, Jean Logrea and Beth Fritz-Logrea. Together with their son, Nick, they chat about their core values, leadership styles, and more.
Coming up later this month, Afro-Italian choreographer and dancer Nnamdi Nwagwu talks about his freelancing, choreography, and his future goals; former Batsheva dancer Billy Barry shares how he’s pushing the Gaga practice; and Dutch National Ballet principal Young Gyu Choi reflects on the learnings from his lifelong teacher, Sun Hee Kim.
Finally, please take a moment to consider who you’d like to nominate for a 2026 Dance Teacher Award. You may submit your nomination via this form by Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
With excitement,
