Join the Dance Parade!
November 29, 2001
If you’re anywhere near New York City on May 17, the second annual New York Dance Parade is something worth checking out. Organized by the nonprofit group Dance Parade in an effort to increase the public’s appreciation of dance, this full-blown display of music and dance will start on 28th Street and head down Broadway to University Place.
An estimated of 5,000 dancers, led by jazz legend (and 2003 DT Lifetime Achievement Award winner) Luigi and DJ Jonathan Peters, will display their talents in 29 different dance styles. Even Mayor Bloomberg encourages New Yorkers to attend this unique festival.
