Will We See You at the 2021 Dance Teacher Awards This Week?
February 24, 2022

Like you, there are so many passionate and inspiring dance teachers out there who pour their heart and soul into their vocation. And in just two days, you’ll have the opportunity to celebrate seven of these extraordinary educators with our much-loved 2021 virtual Dance Teacher Awards.

After reviewing thousands of nominations, we’re honoring the largest group of awardees in the event’s history: Eva Encinias who is carving out space for flamenco in higher education and beyond; Antoine Hunter, who is creating a more equitable world for deaf artists; Karisma Jay who is taking a holistic approach to dancer development; Dr. Nyama McCarthy-Brown who is helping to dismantle racism through culturally relevant teaching; Dr. Doug Risner who is keeping research alive in the classroom; Alice Teirstein, who is making dance more accessible to teenagers; and, finally, the illustrious Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, founder of Urban Bush Women (and 2021 MacArthur Fellow), who will be receiving our Award of Distinction.

Plus, all proceeds from the ticket sales (only $25 each!) will go towards funding the MOVE|NYC| Dance Teacher Scholarship—a cause that is very dear to our hearts.

So tune in on Wednesday, October 6 at 6 pm ET/3 pm PT to watch the 2021 Dance Teacher Awards on YouTube. You will receive a link to the event one hour in advance of show time.

Get your tickets now—we can’t wait to see you there!
