The 2013 International Association of Blacks in Dance Awards

This weekend, the International Association of Blacks in Dance honors its 2013 awardees as part of the organization’s 25th annual conference in Washington, DC.

Recipients include choreographers Camille A. Brown, Dianne McIntyre and Louis Johnson, as well as dance scholar Brenda Dixon Gottschild and Duke Ellington School of the Arts teacher Charles L. Augins. Awards will be presented at Howard University during the IABD’s 25th Anniversary Gala on Saturday night.

The conference (Jan. 24–27) also offers master classes led by Maude Arnold, Cleo Parker Robinson, Ronald K. Brown and others; panel discussions; auditions for conservatories, festivals, scholarships and summer programs; and performances by companies including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Philadanco! and Dance Theatre of Harlem.
