Helping Young Students' Dreams Take Flight
September 19, 2012

Thanks to Southwest Airlines’ Adopt-A-Pilot program, a fifth-grader from Trenton, Missouri, got to travel to New York City Ballet’s summer home at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. 12-year-old Emily took class at the National Musuem of Dance, got a backstage tour, chatted with NYCB principals and attended a performance at SPAC’s open-air theater.

It all started with Emily’s essay to her “adopted” Southwest pilot, Gary, in which she told him she dreamed of one day becoming a professional dancer. Learn more about the Adopt-A-Pilot program, and see how Emily’s story unfolded in this inspiring new short film, “The Voyage of a Dream.”
