From director shifts and beyond, here are the major dance educator moves you should know about from winter 2023–24.
José Martín Trujillo has been appointed the next director of Boston Ballet School’s Professional Division at Walnut Hill, beginning with the 2024–25 school year, succeeding interim director of dance Miranda Weese.
Maximiliano Guerra has been named artistic director of Evergreen City Ballet.
Anastasia Johnson has been promoted to education director at Washington, DC’s Dance Place.
Sarah Lane parted ways with Ballet Rhode Island, where she had been school director since September.
Mavis Staines will retire as artistic director and CEO of Canada’s National Ballet School in June.
Alexander Campbell has been named artistic director of the Royal Academy of Dance, effective in April; he succeeds Gerard Charles, who retired last year. Mary Keene has been appointed director of examinations, succeeding James Stockdale.
Christopher Powney will step down as artistic director and CEO of the Royal Ballet School in July. Christopher Rodrigues is serving as interim CEO while the search for a new CEO and artistic director, now separate positions, is underway.
Viviana Durante will step down as artistic director of English National Ballet School at the end of the current school year.
Brenda Last has been appointed president and Cynthia Harvey the vice president of the British Ballet Organization.
