Thom Cobb, Former NDEO President, Has Passed Away
December 5, 2016

We’re saddened to report that Thom Cobb, former president of the National Dance Education Organization, passed away on Friday. He was with his wife, Christine.

His generosity of spirit, good cheer and sense of humor were well-known, as was his 36-year tenure as a professor at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. He’s been an expert source for this magazine—someone we’ve called upon for advice about improvisation, for example, or the history of jazz dance—and a beloved faculty member at our Dance Teacher Summit.

We love this video of Thom at the Summit in 2009, schooling everyone on how to snap convincingly and pivot-turn with the best of them.

Please share your memories of Thom in the comments!
