Trinity Laban and Beijing Dance Academy have combined forces to launch the UK and China’s first joint institute in the performing arts university sector: the Beijing Dance Academy Trinity Laban Institute.
According to Anthony Bowne, Trinity Laban’s principal and a professor, this groundbreaking partnership, which represents Trinity Laban’s first transnational education project, “will forge a new path in transnational education and contribute to strengthening UK–China relations.”
Two degree programs have been formally approved: BA Dance Choreography (Contemporary Dance) and MFA Dance Science, with plans to expand offerings in the future. Graduates will receive dual degrees, one from each institution, and the inaugural student intake is scheduled for September 2027.
By combining the world-class expertise of Trinity Laban and Beijing Dance Academy, the joint institute will serve as a hub for global innovation in dance education, research, and professional development. Students will also benefit from an international curriculum enriched with distinctive Chinese artistic traditions, gaining both artistic and academic skills that are highly valued worldwide.
