In today’s image-driven world of social media, having a supply of eye-catching photos is more important than ever. At a recent Aspen Santa Fe Ballet shoot, photographer Jana Cruder used clouds of colored cornstarch to create rainbows of moving color around the dancers. The results are certainly striking (and definitely Instagram-worthy). On her blog, Cruder says, “Shooting with the powder proved to be a challenging mess as well as technically trying, timing movement to the falling of the powder as well as colored cornstarch in every bit of all my equipment.” Were the results worth the hassle? How much trouble will you go to for a standout photo shoot with your dancers?
