The celebration of tap dance legend Bill “Bojangles” Robinson’s birthday comes each year May 25, and the dance world goes wild for it! Since 1989 the day has been celebrated by tap lovers everywhere through music, movement and festivals.
Interested in joining the party this year? Here’s one special way to celebrate NTDD in 2019.
National Tap Dance Day Celebration at Rockaway Beach, New York
For the third year, Anthony LoCascio and his #Taplife Company will be presenting their event “Lucky to Be Alive on Rockaway Beach for National Tap Dance Day.” The event, May 25, features a free, family-friendly acoustic concert, and, of course, tap dancing. If you’re in the area, it’s a must-see!
Not a New York native? We’ve got great news! This program is live-streamed on Facebook and Instagram. If you’re interested in getting involved, go to taplifecompany.com/events for more info on how to learn the performance’s choreography, film your own “Lucky to Be Alive” video and submit your content to win prizes.
No matter how you celebrate, get out there and make some percussive magic on May 25, people! Be sure to film it and tag us so we can see all of your groovy moves on our Facebook page!
