Hurricane Harvey’s devastation may be far-reaching, but so is the generosity of the dance community. Several organizations have initiated relief funds or provided ways for you to directly be involved with the relief effort:

• Gil Stroming of Break the Floor created a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise $100,000 that he promises will go directly to studios affected by Harvey. (Plus, after contributing an initial donation of $25,000, Stroming matched, dollar-for-dollar, thousands of funds!) Although the GoFundMe has surpassed its goal of $100,000, the account is still active.
• Stagestep announced an initiative to contribute 50 percent of the cost of its dance floors for studios in need who must rebuild and renovate. You can apply here through December 31, 2018.
• Dance Source Houston created a detailed spreadsheet for studios and companies affected by the storm, in which they list what items they need and what their restrictions are for accepting monetary donations. (Want to be a studio fairy godmother? Fill out this spreadsheet!)
• Brown Girls Do Ballet started an Amazon wishlist for Houston-based dancers and studios—you can decide exactly what you’d like to purchase as your contribution.

The event held at The Dallas Conservatory from Park Cities featured a master class taught by Alicia Graf Mack. Sixty-two girls showed up to dance and donate.

The girls raised more than $950 and collected numerous personal products and diapers for hurricane victims.
