Educator Moves: Shifts in the Dance Education Landscape From Fall 2022

From new directors to faculty appointments and beyond, here are the major dance educator moves you should know about from fall 2022.

Tai Jimenez will become director of the Dance Theatre of Harlem School on July 1, 2023, when current director Robert Garland takes over the post of Dance Theatre of Harlem artistic director.

Alecia Good-Boresow has joined the faculty of School of Ballet Arizona as Studio Company manager and Upper Division coordinator.

Margaret Tracey has joined Cincinnati Ballet’s Otto M. Budig Academy as principal academy consultant.

Magaly Suárez joined The Rock School for Dance Education as resident master teacher in September. Melissa Stafford joined as chief artistic officer. In addition, Anne White, Etienne Diaz and Anastasia Babayeva have joined the faculty.

Pamela Levy has been appointed director of the American Ballet Theatre/New York University master’s degree in ballet pedagogy program.

James Ady and Kelly Alvarez have joined the faculty at the University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. Max Pham joined as artist in residence at the start of the fall semester.

Sydney Skybetter has been named deputy dean of curriculum and co-curriculum at Brown University.

Nile H. Russell has been named director of education at American Dance Festival.

Paloma Herrera has been named artistic director of the Kaatsbaan Ballet Intensive 2023, for which Kevin McKenzie will serve as artistic advisor.

Sindy Folgar has been named director of the Misty Copeland Foundation’s BE BOLD program.
