Since 1989, tap dancers have been celebrating National Tap Dance Day (NTDD) on and around May 25, the birthday of tap dance legend Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. This year, prime events are happening in Philadelphia, New York and Chicago.

Rockaway Beach, NY, May 25: The Taplife Company, in partnership with the National Dance Week Foundation, will perform at Rockaway Beach. For this performance, attending dancers are invited to learn the choreography (three different levels) online to participate in person or by posting their videos of themselves to the Taplife Facebook page, where they will also be live-streaming the event.

Ft. Worth, TX, May 25, 7 pm: Arts Fifth Avenue celebration for all ages will be followed by a performance on its outdoor stage at 8 pm.

Erie, PA, May 27: Dance Elite* Company will gather dancers in Perry Square for a day of tap dance.

Chicago, IL, June 2, 7:30 pm: The Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s third annual STOMPING GROUND series concludes at the Studebaker Theater.
