When Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Jamar Roberts was in high school, he learned to pick up choreography quickly from his teacher Angel Fraser-Logan at the Dance Empire of Miami.
“Being in class with her made me a really observant dancer. She had a definitive style. Everything was extremely dynamic and expressive. Her class had a sink-or-swim feeling. She would throw these things out, and you just had to take it all in within a short amount of time: musicality, the actual step and the integrity of whatever it was she was teaching.”
