Jordan teaching during KCB’s 2013 summer intensive

Kansas City Ballet’s James Jordan has accepted the position of ballet master for Sarasota Ballet. Jordan, who served as KCB’s ballet master since 1991, will return to KCB to help stage the company’s production of the The Nutcracker in December. Jordan is a répétiteur of Antony Tudor ballets, many of which are in the repertoire of the Sarasota Ballet.

After a 30-year run, the New York International Ballet Competition has ceased to exist. Following cancellation of its 2013 event, the NYIBC board of directors has decided to permanently close the organization founded by Ilona Copen and Igor Youskevitch in 1983. The NYIBC was unique in its requirements that participants learn the same three pas de deux upon arrival in NYC, rather than performing ballet variations or choreography of their choice.
