Donnell with a preparatory program student

Dean Susan Jaffe announces Matthew Donnell as director of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts’ preparatory program. Donnell attended the after-school dance class program in his youth before studying at UNCSA’s high school and dancing with Kansas City Ballet. Joining Donnell is new faculty member Alana Niehoff, a former Rockette and member of American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company.

After 25 years of free tuition, the preparatory program will now use a low-cost tuition-based model to pay for added classes, including a boys’ class.
