Do you ever get overwhelmed by some magical trifecta of science and art and technology and go, “Wait, what?” That’s what this 3-D–printed zoetrope has me doing today. When it’s lit from the side, it reveals dancing people (!).
This is a zoetrope of a person dancing.
(Not sure what a zoetrope is? Yeah, me either. Apparently it’s toy from the 19th century that produces the illusion of motion by rotating a cylinder with pictures inside it.)
See for yourself:
I’m seriously mesmerized.
The artist who created this, Akinori Goto, won runner-up at this year’s Spiral Independent Creators Festival in Tokyo. (What could have possibly beat this?)
