The dance world is long overdue for a 21st-century method of transcribing movement. And while this app doesn’t solve that problem unequivocally, it will certainly come in handy for dancers who struggle to remember steps or choreographers with too much movement to recall clearly. Designed to help dancers keep track of and organize choreography, Dance Journal allows users to record movement in a number of ways. You can save notes and accompanying pictures for particularly troublesome steps, record videos of choreography and keep it all well-organized and easy to sort through by date, teacher, dance style, category (“center,” “across the floor”) and movement. Best of all, students can share their dance logs with other users via Bluetooth or even on Facebook—which could be a big help when it comes to your students who have to miss class.
