Saratoga En Pointe Reveals Shoe Sculptures
June 7, 2013

Over Memorial Day weekend, the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, New York, unveiled a fleet of 25 five-foot-tall pointe shoes. Sponsored by local businesses and benefactors, the sculptures were delivered in January—in plain plaster form—to artists, who went all-out preparing the pieces for their spring debut. The vibrant results do not disappoint! There is a peacock shoe, a garden shoe, an underwater aquarium shoe, red, pink and silver shoes and more. The sculptures will be displayed outdoors in the city’s downtown area for the public to enjoy this summer.
