Nothing helps build an audience like bringing dance to the masses. To kick off their spring season at Lincoln Center, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will host a free Revelations workshop outside the David H. Koch Theater.

On opening night—June 11—at 5:30 pm, dance-lovers of any age and level can get psyched for the evening’s performance by learning choreography from the company’s most iconic work. Master teacher and former Ailey dancer Nasha Thomas-Schmitt will teach excerpts from Revelations sections “I’ve Been ‘Buked,” “Wade in the Water” and “Rocka My Soul.” There will also be live drummers and singers. Later that night, the Ailey pros will perform Revelations as the finale to a program that includes works by Wayne McGregor, David Parsons and Aszure Barton.
