Renee Robinson, 31-year veteran of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, retires next weekend, but not before being honored at the 2012 Dance Magazine Awards on December 3! The last company member hired by Alvin Ailey himself, Robinson will accept her award from AAADT artistic director emerita (and 2010 DT Lifetime Achievement Award–winner) Judith Jamison.

And that’s the just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Monday’s start-studded lineup. Also on the list to receive DM Awards are American Ballet Theatre primaJulie Kent (presented by ABT artistic director Kevin McKenzie), tap dance iconDianne Walker—or “Aunt Dianne” to former student Savion Glover—(presented by dance writer Constance Valis Hill) and New York Times dance critic Anna Kisselgoff, who will accept her award from Lar Lubovitch.
