TYCE in rehearsal

The American Tap Dance Foundation launched a monthly education series, Tap Talks/Tap Film, in January, presenting rare and archival video footage and choreography as part of the organization’s mission to preserve and educate the public on tap dance. On May 25–one month from today–ATDF will celebrate National Tap Dance Day, with a full day of activities to honor Bill “Bojangles” Robinson (whose birthday falls on May 25). The Tap City Youth Ensemble, ATDF’s teen ensemble, will perform following a free introductory tap class. Additionally, ATDF students will gather at Hudson River Park’s Pier 45 to do the shim sham shimmy and hold improvisational tap jam sessions, inviting the public to participate.
