This Dance Mob Just Needed a Captain

New York City has many wonderful and idiosyncratic things in it, but one of my favorites is Improv Everywhere. IE is a comedy collective that creates pranks—positive ones—in public spots. (I was first introduced to them one January, when a group of people on the subway started taking off their pants, en masse.) Their newest “mission,” as they refer to their pranks, involved setting up an empty stage and advertising for a dance captain.

When people stepped onto the platform, IE’s dance mob of 100 people copied whatever they did. (IE says it’s a sequel of sorts to their 2013 mission “Conduct Us,” in which randos got the chance to conduct a world-class orchestra.) Watch the video—and check out the tiny dancers!
