Stage Fright Coping Techniques
"[Stage fright is] often based in
perfectionism, when you only

possible, then of course your
anxiety is going to be off the..."
Sweaty palms and a racing heart rate
before a performance is a common

Project 21 Owner Molly Long on Creating a Powerhouse Competition Dance Studio
When Molly Long first began Project 21, she was committed to doing things her
way. Eight years and a dominant competition studio later, it seems her instincts
were spot-on. Long was born into the dance world; her mother owned a studio
called California Dance Academy in Orange County, California. Her aunt also
taught at the school, and Long began her training there at just 3 years old.

5 Costume Complications Solved
Kim Pelliccia has seen her share of
costume-related emergencies during her
time working for the recital costume
company Dansco. “We’ve had studios flood,
trains derail, Lucy’s costume doesn’t fit on
Wednesday and the show is on Saturday,”
she says. As a studio owner, you’re no
stranger to the special set of potential
problems that competitions and recitals
bring. That’s why we spoke to several savvy
owners and costume companies for their
surprisingly simple advice on handling five
common costume complications.
“The costume went home with
Grandma, and it never came back.
Or she was at her dad’s this
weekend, and the dog ate it,” says
Pelliccia. But the fix is easy.
